Brewdog: Hardcore IPA (2010 Edition) (Scotland: Imperial IPA: 9.2% ABV)
Visual: Lightly carbonated amber brown with a whole inch of white sturdy bubbly head.
Nose: Blood orange/tangerine, malt, hops and grapefruit. Nutmeg, chives and ginger. Dry aromatic wheat and perfume.
Body: Strawberry, solid malt, bitter hops and slick textured. Hints of cherries and cream. Marzipan. Apricot and sweet syrup.
Finish: Bitter hops, pineapple chunks. Almonds. Lots of dry hoppy action in full force.
Conclusion: A fantastic forceful IPA with a solid malt body, wonderful nose and hoppy end. Extremely well crafted with sweet fruitiness offsetting the amazing bitterness.
Technically more proficient than my beloved Punk IPA, but does not steal my heart in the same way:- Still wondrous, a more contemplative and depth filled ale than its bright and brash cousin. Really a beer you can lose yourself in and a fine IPA.
