Welcome to the world of beer and whisky as viewed by a somewhat eccentric wanderer of the alcohol and philosophy world. A smattering of tasting notes done in a at best semi serious fashion, and musings on how the culture of beer has become so maligned, and of what can be gained by a touch of reflection over a drink.
Enjoy
Any questions or feedback are welcome, I can be contacted at alcoholandaphorisms at gmail dot com
Hi, just wanted to say that I love your note re: I&G Triple matured. We work for Innis & Gunn as their PR’s and while I’m obviously biased I totally love the beer. Are you based in the UK? If you would be happy for me to add your details to our database I can keep you updated with any I&G news, invites to events and samples of their latest limited editions. Drop me an email if this would be of interest. Best wishes, Nicky
Hi Guy’s, I really like your tasting note, it is always detail and interesting. I’m from Montreal (Quebec) so we don’t have any of the beer you talk. My mouth is watering everytimes. I’m wondering if you’re interested by some trade or something. We are really in a boom right now and we got a lot of great bear too. I have also a blog (in french) maybe you’re curious and you would like to see what we got here; http://www.joualverre.com Continue you’re great notes and I hope we van make some trading soon. Thanks, Stephan
Thanks for the very kind comments, i’m always glad to hear when people enjoy the blog and good beer. I’m not really in a position to do beer trading at the moment I’m afraid – which is a pity as I have been hearing great things about Canadian beer recently. If circumstances change I will let you know. All the best and enjoy your beer!
Where do you hail from?
A limey from England
Ah, okay. Wondered because of course, where we are often determines what breweries we have access to. Not to mention which styles of beer are most common to us. Love the posts on Brewdog! Can’t get much from them over here, but what I had was awesome!
Hi
I read the your Japanese message. The Japanese, if there is a character of three of the hiragana and katakana and kanji, writing is not easy. But statements that you wrote you were generally accurate. In fact, you have a high Japanese skills.
The next time you come to Japan, please e-mail at takizombie at gmail dot com. I will make every effort to adjust the schedule. While drinking with sharing good quality beer again, let’s talk about beer.
ありがとうございました
I look forwards to when I can next return to Japan!
One of the best berr-and-alike blogs I’ve encountered. You are really gifted when it comes to tasting, and then, writting about your experiences. Kudos and many thanks for sharing your experiences. And since, I am another foreigner writting here…. greetings from Poland.
Thank you very much for your kind words. I’ve really enjoyed writing this blog, and a part of it is talking with people from around the world with a similar love of the fine drinks of life, so your comments are much appreciated!
Today is International Beer Day!

That was very interesting, thank you.
(Is deshita ok to use in that sentence? I wasn’t sure)
Hopefully not too long until we can drink them!
“おもしろいでした” は間違いではありませんが, “おもしろかったです” の方がより日本語らしい表現です.
“非常に興味深かった” と言えれば上級者.
Trappist beer of the ninth, I expect!!
ああ、そう. 分かりました, ありがとうございます. 新しい しごと を 始まる から ほんの少し 日本語 を べんきょう しました. ごめんなさい.
Hopefully that made sense. Also I heard Brewdog are planning to open a Brewdog bar in Tokyo. Hopefully it will make it easier for you to drink Dead Pony Club in Japan!
Thanks again
BrewDog bar in Tokyo! I received the news. Official bar in Japan to open, that BrewDog many fans have been waiting for in Japan.
I am raring to expect the next spring.

I just wanted to thank you. I am doing my own Abstrakt vertical tasting (with friends) with 7 old ones I have been hoarding and needed tasting notes. Of course their website had nothing so I googled and stumbled on your site. Excellent notes and you are a lifesaver, I now have decent notes for my Abstrakt dinner party!
That is awesome! Glad to have helped. Hope the tasting goes/has gone well. May I ask which seven you have? Thanks for the great comment, always nice to hear.
